Our Philosophy & Approach
Ironwood Practice Systems is committed to making our digital experiences accessible to individuals of all abilities. We design using native, semantic HTML and clean styling patterns informed by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
No Automated Overlay Widgets: We intentionally do NOT use automated third-party "accessibility overlays" or widget plugins. Research and disability advocacy groups (including the National Federation of the Blind) have demonstrated that overlays often interfere with assistive technologies rather than improving accessibility.
What Has Been Tested
- Semantic HTML Landmarks: Verified page structure using standard landmark elements (
<header>,<main>,<footer>,<section>). - Color Contrast: Text and background color ratios evaluated against WCAG 2.1 AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for body copy).
- Keyboard Navigation: Sequential focus order and visible focus states for all interactive links and buttons.
- Zoom & Scalability: Layout flexibility verified up to 200% browser zoom without loss of content or functional breakage.
Known Limitations & Ongoing Work
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, we recognize that full automated conformance cannot replace comprehensive human-in-the-loop assistive technology testing. Client-provided images and embedded PDF documents are dependent on client-supplied text alternatives.
